Everybody Wants A Harvest But Nobody Wants To Hoe

Have you ever planted a garden? First you have to prepare the soil, find the perfect spot where it will get sunshine and not get flooded. Then you have to till the soil, get out the rocks and weeds, then after a lot of hard work you finally get to plant the seeds.

But you are not finished then, the work is only beginning. You have to water, weed, fertilize and care for the plants everyday.

You have to protect them from the varmints, the bugs, birds, etc. that want to destroy your crops. It’s a constant battle of maintenance and upkeep.

It’s kind of like running a business. It takes a lot to get started and there are a lot of obstacles along the way. People (varmints) who will try and sabotage you and your goals. They will come in and steal the seed, what you have worked for and built.

Are you bombarded with emails and pop ups and websites screaming at you everyday like I am? I seem to be inundated with those “latest, greatest, push button, no work required, no skills needed, even a monkey can do it, make a million in 3 clicks of a mouse, get rich quick scams.”

All they do is create a welfare type- poverty stricken mentality. Telling people that they don’t need to learn skills or do any work, just pay them the $37, $67, $97 or $197 or whatever is the going rate for the day and all your dreams will come true.

Oh please, if you want to reap the harvest, you are gonna have to do some hoeing. Nothing in life is free, not the good stuff anyway. Everything comes with a price.

Why People Fail

Why Do People Fail?

Statistics show that 98 % of all network marketers or people working online from home fail. With the success rate so narrow, why would anyone want to start a new online business? Yet, last statistics I saw, there are over 150,000 people a week that sign up for a home based business.

The amount of people who are actually working from home part time is around 23 million people, while the amount of people who are working from home on a full time basis is around 14 million people. It’s obvious that people want to supplement their income.

But Ninety percent of all new businesses fail the first year.
And 90% of the rest fail in the next 4 years.
THAT is tough. That means that out of 100 new businesses that start up, after one year, only 10 will be left. 4 years later, out of the 100 that started, only 1 will still be in business. Pretty grim statistics, don’t you think? Why?

You’re excited. You start. A thousand things go wrong. You want to quit a thousand times.

Most people just quit. They just give up too easy.

You need a strong enough reason to do it. Then if
WHAT you’re doing doesn’t work, you’ll figure out
some other way. But if you’re at all wishy-washy,
you’re a goner.

Let me give you just a few reasons that people fail.

1) They quit. They decide that it’s just too hard or they don’t want to put forth the effort.

2) They want to blame everything and everybody for not being successful.
3) They fall for the “Lets get rich quick” scheme. (They don’t want to work)
4) They feel like the world owes them. After all, I am entitled to it attitude.
5) They are a perfectionist. They over analyze everything. Let’s just say that they have analysis paralysis.
6) They are too smart. (or they think). In other words, they already know it all and are not coachable.
7) They are whiners. Typically always complaining and miserable and trying to make others miserable too. (Their attitude is contagious, so stay away from them).
8) They are network marketing junkies. Always looking for another fix, a better company. The grass is always greener on the other side. They jump from one program to the next and are never satisfied and never last very long at anything.
9) They don’t check out the company carefully before they start and the company goes out of business. (There re 5 critical questions to ask before joining any company)
10) They don’t have a system to follow or a coach and true mentor to show them how to be successful. You must have a proven duplicatable system or you are toast.

Why People Fail Part 2

Several national tests have revealed the following startling statistics about why salespeople fail.

15 percent — Improper training, both product and sales skills.

20 percent — Poor verbal and written communication skills.

15 percent — Poor or problematic boss or management.

50 percent — Attitude.

A sound almost impossible doesn’t it?

Salespeople (or anyone else) could succeed 50 percent more if they just change the way they think.

…we become what we think about. That’s it!

But it’s a dedicated discipline that must be practiced.

Want to begin to change your attitude to change your success (and income)? Try adding and living these thoughts and exercises:

When something goes wrong, remember it’s no one’s fault but yours. You always have (and have had) a choice.

If you think it’s OK, it is.

If you think it’s not OK, it’s not.

Ignore the local junk news — do a project, make a plan or do something to enhance your life.

For one year read only positive books and material.

When you face an obstacle, or something goes wrong, look for the opportunity.

Listen to attitude audio tapes, attend seminars, take courses. Ignore people who tell you “you can’t” or try to discourage you.

Check your language. Is it half full or half empty, partly cloudy or partly sunny? Avoid why, can’t, won’t.

Say why you like things, people, job and family — not why you don’t.

Help others without expectation or measuring .

How long do you stay in a bad mood? If more than five minutes, something’s wrong. Get over it and let it go. It’s your choice.

Count your blessings every day. Everyday start the day off with 5 minutes of thanking God for what you have and end the day the same way, just before bed.

If you take the hour a day that you currently waste watching the news and convert it into positive action or learning for yourself, your business or your family, at the end of one year you will have captured more than 15 full 24-hour days.

Which will help your success more — 15 days a year watching the news or 15 days a year building your future?

Meet One Of My Mentors. He’s the “wierdo” that does just the opposite of the “Successful Guru’s”

I’ve heard him called The White Knight of Network Marketing. Oh please, give me a break. Some call him bad names and slander his name, they are the jealous ones.

For some reason I can’t quite put my finger on it,  why  so many people are drawn to him?

Michael Dlouhy spends 7-10 hours a week teaching his own network marketing COMPETITORS every secret he knows.  He gives them FREE every tool he uses.  His phone calls & e-book show them EXACTLY, step-by-step, how to take business away from him (if they can) … and then he doesn’t even charge them for the training! How can he be successful like that???

Michael’s income comes from his MLM business. Yet on his conference calls, he NEVER mentions the company name. He NEVER says a product name.  He trains his people to NEVER close a sale.  He trains them to NEVER recruit.  He tells them to NEVER promote to friends & family.  And yet they move a TON of products, and they build like crazy! Every guru out there says he is insane for doing this and they say it will NEVER work like that. But it does.

In his e-book, he catalogs every lie they’ve ever told.  What drives him is helping those who’ve dreamed entrepreneurial dreams, and then been fleeced & abused by the evildoers.  So when he gives everything away … it’s an “in-your-face” to the Heavy Hitters. They can’t stand it!

Nothing wrong with that.  Strong motivation.  That’s good.  But then people get the picture of him riding over the countryside.  It’s The White Knight of Network Marketing, Sir Michael of MLM.

Michael leaves wonderful, wildly profitable MLM marketing systems on the curb if he can’t use them to build others.  People instantly relate to him.  They trust him.  They’re loyal.  He makes relationship-building look way too easy.  And he trains his people to use his e-book do the same thing.

Michael has a thing about numbers.  Listen: it’s great to care about people.  Any reasonable person does.  But the numbers say, most people fail in network marketing.  The numbers say, if you bet everything on your people and they fail, then YOU are down the tubes. The problem with people is, they’re VERY unpredictable.

But to Michael, it’s all about relationships. The game wouldn’t be fun to him if that wasn’t his focus. So it is.

I have to laugh as I write this. The first time I ever met Michael, a few years ago, I downloaded his ebook and he called to ask if he could help me and to tell me that my lack of success was not my fault in my previous company. I knew he was telling the truth. It was refreshing and enlightening.

There was instant friendship and trust between us. It was as though we had known each other for years. I don’t know how he does it, but he knew exactly what was going on and how to resolve  the problems.

He can talk from dawn to dark (and often does). I don’t know if he ever sleeps. But, he is also a very good listener.  A very unusual combination.

Simply, Michael Dlouhy is a networking genius.  He is to relationship-building and network marketing what Muhammad Ali was to boxing, what Elvis was to rock ‘n roll, what Bill Gates is to the personal computer.

These kinds of people don’t do things the way they’re supposed to.  Rules just get in the way of their creativity and obsession with their work. Yet, they were destined to change the world and found their purpose and followed their dreams, like Michael has. He is truly amazing and so is his book.

Which Is Stronger? Your Desires OR your Fears?

Let’s face it; everybody knows that we, as humans, are emotional creatures. I don’t mean, 90% emotional and 10% logical, I mean 100% emotional. Everything we do is based on some kind of emotion. There are two main categories of emotions: desire and fear.

Most of what you do (or don’t do) is based on one of these two emotions. The more you desire (or fear) something, the more likely you are to attract it into your life. A thought without an emotion, has no power. We need to learn to focus our emotions on positive thoughts and push the negative aside, so they don’t control us.

If we want to own our lives, we have to learn to control our thoughts and emotions. Let’s put it this way, if every negative thought cost you $100 dollars and every positive thought paid you $100 dollars, would you be in the red or black? Let’s pretend that we start each day with $1000. At the end of the day, what would be in your “emotional bank account”?

Here’s an exercise that you can to do everyday to help you gain control. Picture yourself standing in front of two doors.  One is your secret place: a place where you are safe from all harm. There are only positive thoughts allowed here. The other is dark and dreary, cold and makes you feel inferior.

PICTURE THIS: YOU STAND IN FRONT OF THE TWO DOORS …..WHICH ONE WILL YOU CHOOSE??

In the deep dark corners of your mind and heart, there is a room. It is a happy room; one where all your good memories are stored.  Your Personal achievements and accomplishments are there. It’s where you have received honor and glory and you are appreciated and loved. You are important here.

This room is warm and bright and the sun shines through the open windows as it warms your face and radiates the entire room. The walls are painted yellow with pink and purple flowers and have great things written on them about you. It says, “YOU ARE HONEST, INTELLIGENT, LOVED, APPRECIATED, PRETTY, HELPFUL, STRONG, NEEDED, WANTED, CONFIDENT “ etc. There are children playing and people laughing. Your friends are here and it smells of fragrant flowers and apple pie. Your favorite music is playing softly in the background. You are at peace here.

You are comfortable here. But soon your emotions take over and lead you down the corridor to another room.

The other room is dark, dreary, damp and cold. This room is filled with your weaknesses, failures, bad habits, fears, doubts and poor decisions you have made throughout your life. It is filled with the negativity you received as a child from mostly “well Meaning” adults who engraved hard hateful words into your mind such as “You are no good, a loser, stupid, ugly, can’t do anything right, never amount to anything, a failure.”

This room smells of mildew and stale air, it is cold and dreary. You hear voices coming from the walls, calling out to you: You can’t do it, just give up, you never finish anything, you are such a failure, you will never have anything, you can’t earn any money doing that, you are wasting your time….blah …..blah… blah….

If you stay in this room long enough, you get depressed. There is no love here, only bitterness and guilt and shame. You must decide and determine to stop running to this room and lingering there after every frustrating event in your life. It does you no good and only drains the joy and love from you like a debilitating disease.

It is time to “Own Your Life”. It’s time to start thinking differently. The only reason you need to go into that room now is to write, “I FORGIVE YOU” in huge red letters across the walls. Then close the door and lock it and put the key in your pocket. Now you have control over that room and NOBODY can make you go in there again.

Move back to the happy room, settle in there and make it your home. Choose to meditate here daily on the positives. Then you will discover talents and abilities you never knew you had. You will be able to see the good in others as you help them overcome their fears and frustrations and you will become the person that God intended you to be.

Everyday, several times a day, visualize yourself in this room and this scenario and when you need extra strength or energy, you can go here in your mind and allow yourself to breath deeply and center yourself in this secret room as you gain control over your emotions and thoughts and revitalize yourself. Smell the fresh garden of fragrant flowers that make you feel peaceful and calm. Its your place to go whenever you need to now. Use it and enjoy it as you grow and learn to love life and help others do the same.

Big Al does it again. He always has the right answer to the questions. If I had a Network Marketing Hero, I would have to say its got to be Big Al.

Here’s his latest post from his fortunenow.com website.

I get the following call:

“Hi, I just need to have a list of the top 100 MLM companies. And, if you have it, a list of new MLM companies too. I’m going to find the best one and make a million dollars.”

What should I do?

Should I humor him? Lie to him? Tell him the truth?

I told him the truth.

There is no list of the top 100 MLM companies. Who would be in charge of the criteria? Who would set the ideal ethics scale? Who would be the final judge of the product quality?

I told the caller, “Most companies are good. If they were bad, had terrible products, and ripped off people, they would eventually go out of business.”

And about a list of new companies? Gee, we could sign up in at least ten new companies every day on the Internet. So “new” means these companies are “old” 24 hours later. I’m not sure what “new” has to do with quality anyway.

I guess if we joined something because it was new today, what would we tell our prospects tomorrow? It is not “new” anymore.

I think there should be something else besides “new” in our decision.

The really bad news about all of this is that this caller thinks that finding the “right company” will be the key to solving his problems.

It won’t help him at all.

He doesn’t have the skills necessary to be successful in any company.

Finding a company to join isn’t what it takes to build a successful network marketing business. It will take skills.

And unless this caller is willing to learn the skills to build a networking business, he will be sentenced to a lifetime of company research, joining companies unsuccessfully, and surfing the Internet for one more new thing to join.

Sad.

I hope he stops looking for the top 100 Network Marketing companies. I hope he stops looking for new network marketing companies to join.

But the reality is:

He will find sitting at home surfing the Internet, comparing company compensation plans, etc. much more safe and comfortable than actually learning the skills and building a real business.

Thanks Tom for that advice. That’s what a lot of people do, they get “analysis paralysis”. They think they have to have all the statistics, all the information, know all the answers, before they take the first step. So, they end up doing nothing, but complaining and murmuring about how this online stuff just doesn’t work. Have you ever seen it? I do daily, heck I have even done it myself t some degree.

It’s time to get on the boat!! Time to start learning the skills and get to work. The sooner you do, the sooner you will reach your dreams and goals. Don’t you want to be able to spend more time with your family? To earn more money? To take a nice vacation without worrying about the cost? To get out of debt? Then start now, get started with a team that will help you and train you today.

“Inclusion” and “Exclusion” Language.
In studying Perry I discovered there are two modes of speech. One is inclusion the other is exclusion.
Example: Ask a kid who just walked out of Disney World how it was and his response will probably be “It was great!”
Most parents would say, “It wasn’t bad at all. It wasn’t as crowded as I expected, the prices where not to steep, really not a bad deal at all.”
The child’s language is the language of inclusion. He is telling you what is while the parent is telling you what isn’t. The child’s language is constructive while the parent’s language is constraining.
Perry points out that most adults become habitual users of exclusion language, which is the vocabulary of doubt, absence, equivocation and diminution.
I was stunned as I examined this further because the language of exclusion creates hesitancy, anxiety and fear, which we all know, is not good for prospects, reps we are trying to coach or customers.

Sales and enrollments up 100%.

Simply by examining everyday phrases that I used I was shocked to find out how much exclusionary language I used. Remembering that the subconscious mind makes all the decisions I quickly saw why I was not getting a higher percentage of enrollments for myself and for my teammates.
Could it be that simple? I listened to myself and others for about a week and then simply changed the phrases I used all that time from exclusionary to inclusionary. Enrollments doubled. Case Closed.
Example.
Someone asks, “How’s it going?”
Do you say, “I can’t complain.” Or do you say, “I feel good.”
When a rep says, “Can you do this for me?” Do you say, “No problem.” Or do you say, “It’s a pleasure.”
When we say no problem we are putting a “no” in the person’s mind and we are putting the word problem in their head. Remember the subconscious makes all the decisions. We want them to say yes but we have put both the word “no” and the word “problem” into their subconscious about us.
This may seem minor. Winners use inclusionary language and get more enrollments. What is minor is the change that we need to make. What is major is the results that it yields.
Exclusion language, remember, creates hesitancy and anxiety because it’s based on, subconsciously, what isn’t, couldn’t, shouldn’t, can’t and won’t.
Exclusion language vs. Inclusion language.

I can’t complain or I feel good.
I can’t argue with that or I agree.
I couldn’t ask for more or I’m pleased
I don’t see why not or let’s do it.
No problem or it’s a pleasure.
That’s not bad or that’s good.
That’s not what I am saying or here’s what I’m saying.
